What does a useful E-2 funds trail look like?

THE DIRECT ANSWER

It connects lawful source, transfers, account ownership, and business expenditures with dated records that can be followed in sequence.

Create a ledger a third party can follow

Start at the earliest meaningful source event. For employment savings, include records that show earnings and accumulation; for a sale, connect ownership, sale agreement, proceeds, and deposit; for a gift, identify the donor’s lawful source and the transfer terms; for a loan, explain collateral and repayment responsibility. Continue through bank statements, wire confirmations, escrow receipts, purchase agreements, invoices, and cancelled cheques until the money reaches the business or a clearly conditional escrow.

Label each exhibit by date and amount, then reconcile it to a concise funds ledger. Avoid unexplained cash deposits, circular transfers, or account movements that cannot be matched to a source. The business side matters too: an invoice should correspond to an asset or service that the enterprise can use, not merely an artificial payment.

If currency conversion, joint accounts, or a third-party payment appears, explain who owned the funds and why the transaction took that form. A transparent path does not guarantee approval, but it makes the factual analysis possible. Reconcile the ledger after each material transfer rather than waiting until the application is assembled.

Bank descriptions, exchange rates, and account names can be easier to explain while the transaction is recent. Where a record is unavailable, obtain a truthful substitute and note the limitation rather than creating a polished but unsupported path.
