TN
That U.S. opportunity is worth a conversation. Explore professional work through the TN pathway.
Enquiries from Petrolia arrive from three directions that look similar and are not. A laboratory or plant technical worker has been offered an American job and wants to know whether the offer is usable. An owner of a small industrial-services company has American customers and wonders whether to open or buy something across the border. A household wants to know whether one person's move can carry everyone else. Those questions are settled by separate bodies of federal law whose evidence barely overlaps. Four items belong on paper before any category is named: the citizenship printed on each passport, the duties a proposed role genuinely contains, the ownership and control of every company on either side, and the origin of any money that would cross the border.

ready for what’s next.
An analytical chemist, a calibration technologist and an occupational therapist who contracts to plant safety programmes can each hold a real U.S. option, and it is seldom the same one. Reading the six route pages against each other shows what every category interrogates and what it ignores completely. A professional route examines a credential closely and hardly glances at money. An investment route examines ownership and capital and hardly glances at a credential. An immigrant investor route examines where the funds came from more searchingly than either. Coming to an adviser after that reading converts a first conversation into a discussion of documents that either exist or do not, instead of a contest between acronyms that somebody else recommended.
Choose what brings you here. Leave with a short list of things to discuss—not another long form to fill out.
For a Canadian citizen the listed profession, its own qualification rule and the described duties do nearly all the work.

Most plans arrive with a date already fixed and no evidence standing behind it. A turnaround season, a fiscal year end, a school term or a closing date sets the timetable, and the paperwork is expected to catch up with it. It seldom does. The productive sequence runs the other way. Work out which document settles each disputed fact, find out how long that document takes to obtain from whoever holds it, and only then commit to a date. A provincial registration certificate, a sealed transcript, a share register brought current, a funds trail assembled across three institutions and a lease executed by the correct entity each carry their own lead time, and the longest one governs the plan.

A practical plan.
No promises we can’t keep.
One line per traveller: citizenship as printed, age at the intended start, and what that person intends to do in the United States. A household often turns out to hold three different immigration questions rather than one, and the second earner's plan frequently decides whether the first earner's route is workable at all.
Beside every route, write what it would compel you to prove. A listed profession and its own qualification rule. A corporate link and a year of qualifying employment abroad. Ownership share, committed capital and an operating business. A statutory amount, ten jobs and a lawful funds trail. Mark each point your file cannot yet establish.
Credential evaluations, regulator letters, corporate minute-book reconstructions and bank records from closed accounts are the usual delays, and none of them speed up because a start date approaches. Identify the slowest item first and start it immediately, because everything else can be assembled while it is in progress.
A remote conversation built around a short list of unresolved points is worth more than a general briefing about categories. It should end as instructions: which letter to request and from whom, which record to correct, which corporate step must happen before a filing, and whether anyone else in the household changes the order.
The route pages below can be read in any order. Each rests on its own situation, among them a chemist weighing two entries on the same professional list, a manager whose corporate link runs sideways rather than upward, a buyer offered a minority share, and an investor whose sale closes near a statutory adjustment date. The same federal rules can therefore be watched working on unlike facts. The page worth rereading is the one that resembles your position in every respect but one, because the single divergence is usually the entire question and the part an adviser should hear about first.
Find your pathwayPetrolia enquiries are handled remotely by Shneur Herman, Jo Kubti and Alexander Paton. No office exists in the town or anywhere else in Lambton County, and no in-person appointment is available for this area, so every conversation happens at a distance. An opening call is used to arrange what is known, mark what is merely assumed, and list what still has to be obtained. Where a formal filing follows, a licensed U.S. immigration attorney takes carriage of it. Everything published here sets out federal requirements in general terms and is not legal advice about any individual case.

It does not. An L petition needs a qualifying relationship that corporate records actually demonstrate, both entities doing business rather than merely existing, and one continuous year of your own qualifying employment abroad inside the three years before filing. Shared ownership answers only the first of those, and your duties must then be managerial, executive, or founded on specialized knowledge of the company's own product, process or procedures.
Possibly, through the Scientific Technician or Technologist entry in USMCA Appendix 2, which reaches beyond degree holders but imposes its own conditions: theoretical knowledge of a listed scientific discipline and work performed in direct support of a professional in that same discipline. Skilled trades such as millwright, electrician or welder appear nowhere on the list, and no amount of experience converts them into a listed profession.
It can be, provided the trail is complete. The shareholders agreement, the valuation, the executed sale documents, tax filings and every transfer between accounts have to be traceable from origin to the business that received the money. Investment routes examine commitment and risk in addition to origin, and the immigrant investor route examines both source and path in the greatest detail. Undocumented movements, rather than the asset sold, are the usual obstacle.
No. This service holds no premises in the town or the surrounding county and offers no in-person appointment anywhere in the area, so consultations take place remotely. Shneur Herman, Jo Kubti and Alexander Paton answer enquiries, and a licensed U.S. immigration attorney is engaged whenever a formal filing has to be prepared or submitted.
