Ownership documents, not descriptions of ownership. The share purchase agreement and closing documents, both companies' articles and registers, a percentage-annotated group chart, and evidence that each entity is actively trading — payroll, service contracts, invoices and tax filings on both sides.
Prove the chain link by link and the trading separately
Adjudicators treat the qualifying relationship and the doing-business requirement as two findings, and a petition strong on one is often silent on the other. For the relationship, assemble the paper in the order the ownership actually runs: the Canadian operating company, whatever holding entity sits above it, and the instrument by which that holding entity came to own the Ohio firm. Include the executed purchase agreement with its closing certificates, the transferred share certificates, the updated registers of both companies, and the articles or certificate of incorporation for each.
For trading, the American side needs to look like a working business rather than an acquisition on a balance sheet: recent payroll registers, current service agreements with turbine owners, issued invoices, lease or premises documents and a filed federal return. The Canadian side needs the same treatment, because a petition can fail on the employer's own continued operations while the foreign national's file is faultless.
